"As part of the Festival de la Libre Expression organized by Jean-Jacques Lebel in Paris from May 17 to 25, 1965, Ben staged a happening on Saturday, May 22, entitled 'Total Theater: Publik and Solo Happening'.
One of the main contributions of total theater was the direct participation of the public in the action. It can therefore be inferred that BEN prepared these certificates prior to the performance with the intention of handing them out to the audience members who took part in the happening."
